Bakker Promoted to Regional Vice President

Luke Bakker has been promoted to regional vice president of sales and customer relations for GreenStone Farm Credit Services, and will oversee the sales teams within four of the cooperative’s branch locations in northern Michigan. Luke transitioned to this position following the promotion of Ben Mahlich, GreenStone’s new vice president of crop insurance.

Bakker Promoted to Regional Vice President of Sales and Customer Relations for GreenStone


Luke Bakker has been promoted to regional vice president of sales and customer relations for GreenStone Farm Credit Services, and will oversee the sales teams within four of the cooperative’s branch locations in northern Michigan. Luke transitioned to this position following the promotion of Ben Mahlich, GreenStone’s new vice president of crop insurance.

In this position, Bakker will serve as the leader of the financial services officers, crop insurance agents and financial services staff in the Alpena, Cadillac, Mt. Pleasant and Traverse City offices. He will not only be responsible for the customer service from this group, but also for the guidance and development of this sales team.

In 2009, Bakker joined GreenStone as a credit analyst, and soon after, transitioned to the position of financial services officer before being promoted to vice president with GreenStone’s commercial lending unit in 2015. In his most recent role, Bakker specialized in assisting large fruit, vegetable, cash crop, and greenhouse and nursery producers with their lending and financial service needs.

A Hart native, Bakker has a strong agricultural background having worked on the Michigan State University asparagus research farm as well as several other fruit and vegetable farms in the area. He attended Central Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Baker has recently located to the Traverse City area with his wife, Martha. Outside of the office, he is an avid fisherman, bow hunter, and enjoys traveling.
