GreenStone Farm Credit Services has awarded $12,000 in scholarships to incoming college freshmen. Five of the award winners are beginning classes at Michigan State University (MSU), while one winner is attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison (UW).

Scholarship award winners were evaluated on a wide range of qualifications, and are required to pursue a degree program related to agriculture. The award winners attending MSU are: Richard Dubke (Carleton, MI), Kyle Francisco (Olivet, MI), Hunter Hrabal (Breckenridge, MI), Marielle Kouassi (Livonia, MI) and Emily Middleton (Mayville, MI). Kelly Wilfert (Two Rivers, WI) was awarded the Wisconsin scholarship.

“Helping cultivate the next generation of agricultural professionals is something we take great pride in at GreenStone,” said Melissa Rogers, vice president of marketing and public relations. “These students have already compiled exceptional resumes consisting of academic success and community service, and we are excited to help them continue their education.”

These six scholarships are in addition to seven scholarships awarded to students with MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine earlier this year. In total, GreenStone has provided $33,000 in scholarships to student in 2013.
