GreenStone Announces 2016 Scholarship Program Deadline

GreenStone Farm Credit Services is now accepting applications through Feb. 26, 2016 for its 2016 scholarship program. The cooperative will once again award up to $40,000 to incoming college freshmen pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field.

Students attending a four-year college program can earn a $2,000 scholarship, while  $1,000 awards will go to selected students attending a two-year college program.

Scholarship applicants must reside within GreenStone’s territory, which includes Michigan and select counties in northeastern Wisconsin; must be a full-time high school graduating senior; have at least a 3.0 grade point average; and plan to study an agriculture-related field. In addition, applicants should demonstrate participation and leadership in school, community and agricultural activities. Complete details are available within the scholarship application found online: bit.ly/2016GSScholarship.

“Through this scholarship, GreenStone aims to provide financial assistance to students who will pursue their dream of higher education and become agriculture’s next generation of leaders,” said Dave Armstrong, CEO and President of GreenStone. “These individuals will strengthen the future of rural communities and the industry.”

During the 2015 program, GreenStone awarded $40,000 in scholarships to 23 well-deserving graduating high school seniors who are now pursuing an agricultural major at nine different universities throughout the United States.
