GreenStone Farm Credit Services Unveils New Scholarship Program, $40,000 to Education

GreenStone Farm Credit Services has unveiled a new scholarship program and will award up to $40,000 to incoming college freshmen pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field.

Students attending a four-year college program can earn a $2,000 scholarship, while $1,000 awards will go to selected students attending a two-year college program.

Scholarship applicants must reside within GreenStone's territory, which includes Michigan and select counties in northeastern Wisconsin; must be a full-time high school graduating senior; have at least a 3.0 grade point average; and plan to study an agriculture-related field. In addition, applicants should demonstrate participation and leadership in school, community and agricultural activities. Complete details are available within the scholarship application found online: bit.ly/2015GSScholarship.

"GreenStone is committed to our mission of providing leadership to the agricultural communities and helping to create relationships that have a lasting, positive impact," said Dave Armstrong, CEO and President of GreenStone. "Through our new scholarship program, we hope to reach a larger number of youth admitted to a variety of colleges. In the end, selected students are not the only ones who will benefit from this opportunity. The agricultural industry as a whole will also gain smart, passionate leaders."

Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 27, and sent to GreenStone's corporate office in East Lansing. Payment will be made after GreenStone receives a transcript identifying a successful completion of the first semester.
