GreenStone Farm Credit Services to Host State-wide Farm Bill Meetings

GreenStone Farm Credit Services is hosting five regional meetings across the state of Michigan to inform farmers about the changes in commodity programs and to introduce two new 2014 Farm Bill established programs: Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC). In addition to the five meetings, GreenStone is also co-sponsoring supplementary meetings being hosted by the USDA Farm Service Agency and Michigan State University Extension.

Producer selection for these programs began Nov. 17 and continues through March 31, 2015. The new programs, designed to help producers better manage risk, usher in one of the most significant reforms to U.S. farm programs in decades.

The five GreenStone meetings will be held in December and January at the following locations:

  • Dec. 10 - The Centre (Lenawee), 1800 West U.S. Hwy 223, Adrian, MI
  • Jan. 8 - Crossroads Conference Center, 6569 Clay Ave., S.W., Grand Rapids, MI
  • Jan. 9 - Banquet and Conference Center of DeWitt, 1120 Commerce Park Drive, Suite A, DeWitt, MI
  • Jan. 15 - Hilton Garden Inn, 1300 Cinema Way, Benton Harbor, MI
  • Jan. 16 - Comfort Inn, 2424 S. Mission St., Mount Pleasant, MI
"We know our customers are facing complicated decisions in the coming year," said Erin DuBois, regional vice president of sales and customer relations for GreenStone. "GreenStone is committed to ensuring farmers have the information and tools they need to decide which program is right for their business."

Individuals are asked to RSVP for one of the five meetings, or any of the additional meetings, online at http://events.anr.msu.edu/FarmBill1415
