As part of a multi-year sponsorship agreement, GreenStone Farm Credit Services has been named a building sponsor for the newly constructed Miracle of Life Educational Pavilion at the U.P. State Fair. Executives from GreenStone were in attendance during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new building in Escanaba, Michigan.

“The new Miracle of Life Educational Pavilion is a tremendous addition to the U.P. State Fair, and will help foster learning about Michigan agriculture for residents throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and beyond,” said GreenStone President and CEO, Dave Armstrong.

"Sponsorship of the Miracle of Life Educational Pavilion is another example of GreenStone’s distinguished reputation for supporting agricultural education,” said Vickie Micheau, executive director, Delta County Chamber of Commerce, managing agent of the U.P. State Fair. “We look forward to collaborating with GreenStone in the future on ways to enhance and expand educational exhibits and events within the pavilion."

The Miracle of Life Educational Pavilion features more than 21,000 square feet, and will serve as the permanent home for the Miracle of Life and the Growing UP Foresters exhibits. GreenStone will have signage present on the interior and exterior of the building.

As part of the Miracle of Life exhibit, fairgoers will have the opportunity to witness the live births of calves, lambs and piglets, and see chick, duck and quail eggs hatch. The Growing UP Foresters exhibit will allow patrons to walk through a hands-on display about the many wonders of forest ecosystems, emphasizing the many ways trees and their products enhance our lives. At the edge of the forest is an interactive exhibit about the importance of farming and agriculture in the state of Michigan.

2012 marks the 25th consecutive year that GreenStone has partnered with the U.P. State Fair. Beyond financial support, beginning in 1987, GreenStone’s Escanaba branch staff have spent each fair week at the Michigan State University Extension office judging all of the market animals record books.

GreenStone has a tradition of being a leader in the communities it serves; in 2011 GreenStone donated nearly $500,000 to various organizations and community groups. GreenStone employees are also focused on community service, having served a combined total of more than 3,000 volunteer hours throughout the year.

The U.P. State Fair opened August 13 and runs through Sunday, August 19. More information on the fair can be found at www.upstatefair.org.
