GreenStone Farm Credit Services has announced Luke Bakker as a new Financial Services Officer in its Ionia Branch.

Bakker assumes this position after serving at GreenStone FCSs Grand Rapids branch as a Credit Analyst since May 2009. Prior to joining GreenStone FCS, he attended Central Michigan University where he received a bachelors degree in Business Administration and a minor in Legal Studies.

Originally from Hart, Michigan, Bakker comes from a strong farming background. He has experience with fruit, vegetables, dairy and row crops, and has developed a diverse skill set from working with a variety of farmers. He also had the opportunity to work as a commercial sport-fishing guide in Alaska between college semesters. In addition to his knowledge of agriculture, he has acquired an understanding of loan structuring from his experience as a Credit Analyst.

Bakker currently lives in Grand Rapids and enjoys hunting, fishing, and working out in his spare time. His family is still very involved in farming and he has maintained a passion for agriculture and people who farm.

In his new role, Bakker will be assisting both current and new agricultural customers primarily in Ionia County. His experience will be fundamental as he assists these clients with financial solutions to the needs of their agricultural operation with products such as real estate, equipment and operating loans, and lease financing.
