Simon Transitions to New Role with GreenStone

Scott Simon has been named the newest financial services officer at GreenStone Farm Credit Services’ Ionia branch.

In this role, Simon will assist customers in Ionia County with their agricultural lending needs by offering financial solutions for real estate, equipment and operating loans, and lease financing.

Simon began his career with GreenStone in the credit department as part of the cooperative’s 2012 summer internship program. After which, he was promoted to credit analyst with the association’s commercial lending unit. In this role, Simon focused on underwriting and monitoring loan requests to help ensure sound, comprehensive credit decisions were made in the lending approval process.

“Scott’s deep knowledge of GreenStone and his involvement with his family’s dairy operation gives him an in-depth understanding of customers' financial positions and the ability to provide innovative and workable solutions,” said Melissa Humphrey, regional vice president of sales and customer relations. “We are excited to welcome Scott to our Ionia team.”

Born and raised in Pewamo, Simon grew up on his family’s 800-cow dairy operation. His responsibilities ranged from working with calves to milking, maintaining facilities and herd management. Later, Scott attended Michigan State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness management.

Today, Simon resides in Ionia County with his wife Kristy, who is expecting their second child, and their son, Jaxson. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, biking, helping out with the local high school track team and lending a hand on the family dairy farm.
