GreenStone in the Community: Adult Prom with a Purpose

Engaging in local activities is one way GreenStone gives back to places where we work and live. Our employees carry out our passion for community engagement through a variety of activities both as GreenStone representatives and as volunteers – we are pleased to tell their stories here. Watch for upcoming stories of how our employees give back in our Open Fields blog!

The only thing better than an evening of music, dancing, and fun with friends is when it is all for a charitable cause. Adult Prom with a Purpose is exactly that. Adult Prom with a Purpose is a fundraiser benefitting the Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ) of Greater Lapeer, a non-profit organization that works closely with churches, government and private organizations providing services to the less fortunate in Lapeer County.

For the past three years, Trisia Edwards, a director of business analysis at GreenStone’s Lapeer branch, and her friends organized and hosted the event. This fundraiser provides guests with various forms of entertainment such as a silent auction, photo booth, dinner, dancing, and crowning of king and queen. The event raised $3,500 the first year and $8,000 the second year, paving the way for a record-breaking third year. The sold-out 2018 Adult Prom with a Purpose took place on Saturday, February 10 and raised an incredible $9,000. Altogether, their efforts have raised $22,201.85 over the past three years. This event proved to be the most successful yet, with eye-catching decorations and engaging activities for guests made possible by donations from local businesses.

“The event was awesome,” Trisia said, “We are so excited to be able to do this for our community and have fun doing it.”

Fundraising for local charitable organizations is one impactful way GreenStone team members give back to their communities.
