College of Agriculture and Natural Resources AutumnFest 2014 slated for Nov. 8

The 39th annual AutumnFest will kick off at 4:30 p.m., Nov. 8 at the Michigan State University (MSU) Pavilion for Livestock Education (the Pavilion) for alumni and friends of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR).

AutumnFest, the largest indoor tailgate, will precede the MSU versus Ohio State University football game.

The indoor heated tailgate will feature buffet foods, a sampling of Michigan products, children’s activities, the MSU Pep Band and cheerleaders, and an appearance from Sparty. CANR alumni and representatives from Michigan’s agricultural and natural resources industries will also participate.

AutumnFest will feature raffles, silent and live auctions for sporting equipment, home-made quilts and even a tour to the top of the Mackinaw Bridge. Raffle tickets can be purchased by Michigan residents in advance or the day of and cost $5 for a bundle of six tickets.

AutumnFest is one of the CANR Alumni Association’s largest fundraising events of the year, which, with its Golfing for Scholarships event, raises more than $20,000 annually for student programs and scholarships.

Since 1989, CANRAA has raised $646,000, contributing to more than 330 scholarships for CANR students. CANRAA has also funded 117 grants totaling $86,425 for student clubs and activities since 2007.

Tickets cost $25 each for adults in advance or $30 at the door. Student brunch tickets cost $10 each for ages 6 to 21. Children under age 6 are admitted free. Additionally, football tickets for the MSU vs. OSU game are on sale for $80 per ticket. Shuttle service to and from the game (from the Pavilion parking lot) is available for $5 per person.
