On June 17, the Great Lakes Ag-Tech Business Incubator is hosting a seminar to inform entrepreneurs, farmers, and small business owners about the federal government’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs. Through these Programs, small and startup businesses can obtain over $1 million to research and develop their new technology-related business ideas.

The seminar will consist of two sessions and a lunch break/networking opportunity. The morning session will provide an introduction to the SBIR and STTR Programs and is recommended for anyone who has a new technology-related business idea. During the lunch break, attendees will have an opportunity to talk with, and have questions answered by, private-sector sponsors of the Great Lakes Ag-Tech Business Incubator. The afternoon session will focus specifically on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) SBIR Program and is recommended for anyone who has a new technology-related business idea pertaining to agriculture.

The seminar will be conducted by Michael Kurek, Ph.D, Partner, BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting. BBCetc manages the Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program which provides training and consulting to Michigan technology companies.
