Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference Slated for February

The 13th annual Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference (GLRDC) will take place Feb. 5–7 at the Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

This year’s conference will focus on techniques, tools and strategies to deliver the type of dairy products consumers expect. Participants will:

  • Hear about the future of the dairy industry, strategies to excel and producers’ plans to meet future needs on their farms.
  • Find out ways to enhance their ability to successfully develop heifers with optimum milk-producing ability, improving not only the bottom line, but also contributing to more sustainable farms.
  • Discover what money-corrected milk really means and what changes are possible on their farms if they choose to focus on margins and not ratios.
  • Look at how management, genetics and nutrition impact the efficiency of reproduction in dairy and the effect of silage Shredlage or improved kernel processing on the nutritional efficiency of dairy cattle.
  • Learn about changing global demands and an ever-growing interconnected dairy system, and hear experts share some simple changes that can have a profound impact on reducing the industry’s environmental footprint and producing a more desirable and profitable product.

Have the opportunity to attend in-depth workshops such as:

          • Improving Labor Management Based on Employee Feedback
          • Easy, Affordable On-Farm Energy Conservation for Boosting the Bottom Line
          • On-farm Crisis Preparedness
In addition to a high-quality lineup of topics, GLRDC will once again be the home base for the annual Dairy Industry Recognition Night. The event will honor the industry’s leading producers, and recognize dairy scholarship recipients and dairy judging team members. The 2015 winners of the Michigan Dairy Ambassador Program will also be announced.

Online registration ends on Feb. 1. On-site registrations are subject to availability. Registration is available for farms, individuals and students. For more information, visit www.glrdc.msu.edu or call 517-884-7089.
