Michigan Ag Council Launches Food, Farming Website

The Michigan Ag Council has launched a new website, www.michiganagriculture.com, an all-inclusive clearinghouse of food and agricultural information. Launched Nov. 5, the new site includes an index of Michigan’s top food products and agricultural commodities, plus recipes, farmer profiles and the group’s monthly e-newsletter, MI Foodie News.

The site’s food and product index showcases 40 of Michigan’s top commodities and farm sectors.

“Each product in the directory has seasonality information, production facts and nutrition information,” said Ag Council President Laura Moser. “It’s an appealing, user-friendly way for people to learn more about Michigan food.”

The council aims to continue adding foods and agricultural commodities to the index in the coming months.

The website also hosts a collection of Michigan-inspired recipes and a form allowing visitors to submit their own.

“We want to establish a community for sharing information,” Moser said. “This is a place to share your best recipes and crowd favorites that showcase Michigan ingredients.

Visitors can learn more about Michigan agriculture in a series of videos spotlighting Michigan farmers, and dig into the facts about the economic impact and variety of the state’s wildly diverse food and farm sector. MI Foodie News, the Ag Council’s monthly e-newsletter to more than 11,500 Michigan consumers, also has a new home on the site.

“Whether you have questions about preparing food or understanding how farming works, michiganagriculture.com is where to go for answers,” Moser said. “Michigan agriculture is a livelihood and an economic driver we’re very proud of—we want to showcase that.”

The Michigan Ag Council is a diverse coalition of commodity groups and agribusinesses working together to raise awareness of Michigan food and agriculture today. Visit www.michiganagriculture.com/about-michigan-ag-council for more information.
