MABA Educational Trust announces Scholarship Recipients

The Michigan Agri-Business Association (MABA) announced this week that nine Michigan students will receive scholarships through the MABA Educational Trust for higher education study in spring 2015.

Michigan Agri-Business Association Educational Trust Announces Spring 2015 Scholarship Recipients

 
Scholarship program, now in its 41st year, will provide a total of $6,500 to nine Michigan students
 
The Michigan Agri-Business Association (MABA) announced this week that nine Michigan students will receive scholarships through the MABA Educational Trust for higher education study in spring 2015.
 
"It's critical that we invest in the future by helping Michigan students who represent the next generation for our agriculture sector," said Jim Byrum, president of MABA. "Agriculture is a high-value, rapidly advancing sector of our economy - and as precision technology, site-specific practices and other advancements take hold, we're going to need more college graduates representing many different fields of study to get the job done. MABA's members are committed to providing a leg up to young adults who want to be part of our industry."
 
Those receiving scholarships include:
  • Mackenzy Blair, Middleton
  • Brittany Brunink, McBain
  • Caleb Felzke, DeWitt
  • Lauren Lauwers, Lansing
  • Cora Okkema, Blanchard
  • Dirk Okkema, Blanchard
  • Kyle Schunk, Clare
  • Eric Voelker, Paris
  • Ashley Wagar, Climax
In addition to receiving MABA Educational Trust scholarships, Cora & Dirk Okkema and Kyle Schunk were recognized as Ed Brown Memorial Scholarship designees. The Ed Brown Memorial Scholarship designation recognizes recipients who hail from the Brown Milling service area.
 
Established in 1974, the MABA Educational Trust has awarded over $365,000 in scholarships to deserving students.  The application deadline for the Fall 2015 semester is June 1, 2015.  Click here for more information on the MABA Educational Trust Scholarship Program.
