A letter from U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow

I wanted to let you know about some exciting new opportunities for Michigan growers thanks to the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Ag Marketing Services. This program, which I authored during the most recent Farm Bill, is designed to enhance the competitiveness of Michigan's specialty crops.

These grants will help Michigan agribusinesses with research, promotion, and trade enhancement. Grant awards range from $10,000 to $75,000 and proposals must be received by the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) no later than April 1, 2011. I encourage you to visit the MDA website at http://www.michigan.gov/mda for further information on this program.

I authored this program so our growers can continue to make significant investments in Michigan's specialty crop sector. These grants will further support the men and women in Michigan agriculture and will create thousands of jobs.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact my office if ever I can be of assistance to you or your family.

Sincerely,

Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator
