Chairwoman Stabenow to Address Major Michigan Agriculture Conference on Tuesday

EAST LANSING – Sen. Debbie Stabenow, the new chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry will speak at the Michigan Agri-Business Association’s annual Winter Conference on Tuesday, Jan. 11. Chairwoman Stabenow will address her new role on the Agriculture Committee, key issues that will be before the committee and the agricultural industry in general.  

Sen. Stabenow has the unique experience of having served on agriculture committees in the state House, the U.S. Congress and now the U.S. Senate.  She played a significant role in the last farm bill, by involving programs for specialty crops, as well being instrumental in helping maintain the broaderagricultural safety net for general commodities such as corn and soybeans.  She also has a strong grasp on the importance of both nutrition and conservation programs in the farm legislation. 

*** Sen. Stabenow will be available to the news media for 30 minutes during a tour of the exhibit floor after her address.
