GreenStone had many proud parents and staff engaged last week at the Michigan State FFA Convention. The convention hosted thousands of students from all over Michigan at Michigan State University. Many of these students will pursue an agriculture related post-secondary institution and enter the agriculture industry after they graduate. Often times these students stay involved with FFA after they graduate high school and volunteer to judge at the convention or have children who participate in the association.

Judges
Melissa Rogers, East Lansing branch, judged the creed speaking contest and she also received the honorary state degree from the Michigan FFA.
Cindy Birchmeier, East Lansing branch, judged the creed speaking contest this year after winning it herself many years ago.
Nicole Goetschy, Corunna branch, judged the science fair this year.
Emily Harke, Adrian branch, judged the regional prepared public speaking contest.

Parents
Elizabeth Waldschmidt, Berrien Springs branch, watched two of her children participate, as well as her niece. Her daughter’s team won the parliamentary procedures contest and her son’s team won the junior high conduct of meetings contest. And for the trifecta, her niece won the prepared public speaking contest.
Duane Brown, East Lansing branch, watched his daughter compete in the junior high conduct of meetings where they placed third.
Pamela Pionk, Bad Axe branch, also watched as a parent at the convention this year.

GreenStone is committed to the ongoing efforts of supporting the youth in agriculture. At the convention Travis Jones, executive vice president and chief financial officer, committed GreenStone’s distinguished star support of Michigan FFA. These are just a few examples of how GreenStone was involved with the Michigan FFA State Convention this year.

The association would not be what it is today if it did not have the dedicated students, teachers, parents, judges, staff, and financial contributions! We congratulate everyone who was involved in this year’s convention and helped make it successful. Good luck to those students who will be representing Michigan this fall at the National FFA Convention.
