This summer GreenStone is pleased to welcome the 29 bright interns who have joined our various departments. All summer, interns will have the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals and gain valuable experience through farm visits, group projects, and real-world work to help prepare them for their future career.
Our Human Resources department is benefiting from intern Macey Schrauben. Macey is attending Ferris State University to obtain a bachelor's in human resources. She came across this internship opportunity through her sister, who interned with GreenStone last summer in the marketing department. For Macey, gaining HR experience with a Farm Credit is a great opportunity and resume builder and she was excited to be given the opportunity!
Macey has been interning with GreenStone since December of 2021 with daily tasks helping with the recruiting process and the internship program. During the recruitment process, she oversees sending out I-9’s, processing background checks, requesting preview assessments, scheduling interviews, and conducting phone screenings with candidates for GreenStone’s available positions. Being hands on in the recruitment process, prepares her for the goal of being in the recruitment field full time.
As this is Macey’s first internship, it has been full of learning experiences. “Working firsthand with the recruiting process, signing up for career fairs, and speaking with all the job candidates has really been a learning process for me and helped me realize what I want to do full time in my future career,” Macey said.
Internships are a great way to try out different career paths to help you find the perfect fit for your future. Through her internship, Macey has had the opportunity to job shadow other departments that interest her.
“I have a job shadow planned with one of the crop insurance specialists and the credit department because those career paths also interest me. I really am looking to find the perfect future career that fits all aspects of my goals,” Macey explained.
Along with obtaining on the job experience, internships are a great way to build connections with industry professionals. The individual’s Macey has met during her internship will always be future connections that could lead her to her dream career.
“One of my favorite parts of this internship is getting to know everyone at GreenStone especially the other HR employees and the interns,” Macey said.
Along with Macey, all GreenStone interns an important asset to the entire GreenStone team. “Our interns have been a HUGE asset to the HR team. Between teaching them our processes, and their questions along the way, they allow us to make little improvements towards efficiencies to continue to get better,” said Kortni Lefevre, VP of human resources.
If you are eager to learn and open to new experiences, then this internship program could be the right fit for you! “We look for anyone who is eager to learn and open to new experiences! We want to ensure that the internship is valuable to both parties, and so far, each one has been exactly that,” said Kortni.
