Specialty Crop Insurance
Mitigating risk to insure your growth.
Don’t let the fruits of your labor go to waste. Get coverage to protect against losses of yield or revenue due to pests, disease, irrigation failure, changes in market prices, adverse weather, and naturally occurring events like hail, drought, and floods.
Core Coverage Products
Actual Production History (Production Based Policy)
Designed to protect farmers against losses resulting from reduced crop yields caused by various perils. It offers financial compensation to farmers when their yields fall below predetermined levels due to factors such as drought, flood, hail, frost, disease, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Actual Revenue History (Revenue Based Policy)
Actual Revenue History (ARH) Insurance uses historical revenues as a basis for protecting future crops. ARH protects growers against losses from low prices, low yields, low quality, or any combination of these unpredictable events.
Whole Farm Revenue Protection
When you need umbrella coverage that protects against the loss of revenue from all crops and animals you produce, turn to Whole Farm Revenue Protection:
Coverage Levels
From 50% to 90%, depending on your qualifying commodity count
Liability Limits
Up to $17M, with no minimum
Micro Farm Program (Revenue Policy for Small Farms)
Micro Farm policies provide a risk management safety net for all commodities for smaller producers or farms with certain value-added products, like jam or honey, all under one insurance policy. The insurance product can be applied to any farm operation with up to $350,000 in approved revenue, including farms with specialty and organic commodities. As a national leader in Micro Farm policies, we want to see your small business thrive.
Like other forms of insurance, premium levels will depend on the likelihood of a claim and the level of deductible you choose. Talk to your GreenStone crop insurance specialist for more information.
Enhanced Coverage Products
Enhanced & Supplemental Coverage Options (ECO & SCO)
For many producers, Enhanced Coverage Option (ECO) and Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO) are cost-effective risk management solutions that increase your revenue floor and provide stability from falling commodity prices.
SCO is an area-based policy that can be stacked on top of your underlying yield protection coverage. It provides an additional band of coverage to 86%, which starts where the underlying coverage level stops. SCO triggers an indemnity when the area falls below 86% of its expected yield.
ECO, similar to SCO, is an area-based policy that can be stacked on top of your underlying yield protection policy. ECO is available in a coverage band from 86-90% or 86-95%. Losses occur when the area falls below the 90% or 95% (depending on coverage election) of the expected area yield. ECO can be purchased without purchasing SCO.
Private Coverage Products
Crop Hail Insurance
Crop hail insurance can help you weather storms that can disrupt your operation.
In addition to providing hail coverage to high-yielding crops, crop-hail protects you against yield loss caused by fire, lightning, and vandalism while the crop is in the field or harvester. It also extends to protect some crops during transit or storage.
Crop-hail policies can be customized for your operation depending on the potential risks to your crops and the commodities being produced and can be purchased at any time during the growing season.
Specialty Crop Commodity Pricing
Specialty crop prices for APH policies have been released. This is the price paid per unit for every unit the producer is below their guarantee. Insurers may also choose to insure a percentage of these prices if a different value is more appropriate for their sales. Contact your agent about the different pricing options.

Knowledge & Resources
With GreenStone, everything works together.

“Our first year on the farm, we ended up getting a big freeze as well as a hailstorm that ended up taking out some of our trees. If it wasn’t for our coverage through the existing policy, I think things would have turned out a lot different for us that first year.”
