History
Over a century of member satisfaction.
We believe in rural Michigan and northeast Wisconsin. We are dedicated to helping our members get the financial products and services they need to position their farms and agribusinesses for success.
Unwavering support from the start
President Wilson signed the Federal Farm Loan Act into law on July 17, 1916. In 1917, the first long-term, low interest amortized agricultural loan was made in Larned, Kansas.
Farm Credit has been there ever since, supporting our nation’s farmers.

Growing with our members
GreenStone as you know it today is the result of the merger of four regional Farm Credit associations in Michigan into one association in January 2000, and the merger of the Upper Peninsula and northeast Wisconsin in January 2003.
Through it all, we have stood the test of time, supporting rural communities and agriculture, solidifying our reputation as a stable and reliable financial institution.
Helping today’s rural communities thrive
From technological advancements to innovative community outreach, we are advancing the way we provide service to you and the communities we call home. And we are doing it in a responsible and financially dependable way to ensure we are here to celebrate the next 100 years with you as well.
Our CultivateGrowth program supports agriculture’s next generation
We appreciate the vision and commitment it takes to remain successful in agriculture, and we’re pleased to help share that vision, passion, and knowledge. We believe the future of our industry will be defined by fresh individual perspectives, and we’ll continue to nurture that growing entrepreneurial spirit.

We are proud to be part of the legacy of providing the food, fuel, and fiber that keeps America running
What began as the Federal Farm Loan Act of 1916 has grown into a successful financial network supporting rural communities and agriculture. The last 100 years have set us on a path to providing continued support for years to come.
With GreenStone,
everything works together.
