As part of GreenStone Farm Credit Services’ commitment to youth in agriculture, the cooperative recently awarded $40,000 in scholarships to 22 incoming college freshmen through the association’s scholarship program.
Applicants were evaluated on a wide range of qualifications, and are required to purse a degree related to agriculture. Recipients received either a $2,000 or $1,000 scholarship determined by the length of their intended college program.
This year’s 22 scholarship awardees are: Alaina Ableidinger (Hillman, MI), Hannah Campbell (St. Johns, MI), Claire Carviou (Porterfield, WI), Stephanie Domke (Herron, MI), Emily Fricko (Attica, MI), Jennifer Gentner (Minden City, MI), Laura Heberling (Carsonville, MI), Madeline Henrickson (Allegan, MI), Claire Hrubecky (Mishicot, WI), Loren King (Burr Oak, MI), Jenna Kingsley (Webberville, MI), Kathryn Kugel (Shawano, WI), Brayton Lehman (Portland, MI), Brady Littlefield (Burr Oak, MI), Madeline Meyer (Ionia, MI), Eric Moser (Dansville, MI), Shannon Particka (Ubly, MI), Allison Schafer (Westphalia, MI), Sarah Van Asten (Kaukauna, WI), Cole Van Oss (Denmark, WI), Peter Vander Hoff (Hillsdale, MI), and John Williams (Marshall, MI).
“These scholarship recipients are outstanding individuals, and are the type of leaders we want to represent GreenStone’s commitment to youth in agriculture,” said Dave Armstrong, former CEO and President of GreenStone. “This award speaks volumes to their past accomplishments, good citizenship, and passion to continue their growth and development as the future generation. GreenStone is proud to assist in furthering their education.”
Since 2010, GreenStone has presented $140,000 in undergraduate college scholarships to students who plan to make a positive impact on the agricultural industry.
To be eligible, applicants must reside within GreenStone’s territory, including Michigan and northeast Wisconsin, be a full-time high school graduating senior, have at least a 3.0 grade point average, and plan to study an agriculture-related field. In addition, selected students demonstrate participation and leadership in school, community and agricultural activities.
