In recognition of National FFA Week, we asked some GreenStone team members how their FFA experience guided their career path. Watch for their stories here this week.

Larry Sheridan when he was in FFA

The FFA has been very, very, good to my family and me. My wife and I are both past State FFA Officers as well as our middle son. Our entire family has been active in FFA over the years. It started in 1968 when I was a freshman in high school and has been a major part of my life and career ever since. I had no idea in those early days just what an impact the FFA would have on my life. My FFA advisor, Mr. Becker, probably taught me more about “life” and how to live it than any other individual with the exception of my father. He taught me the importance of building life-long relationships.
Many of the career opportunities that I have been blessed with over the years have come as a direct result of a relationship built through FFA. Over the years, I have been able to continue those relationships that began all those years ago. Today, many of the people I have a professional relationship with are a direct result of a relationship that began decades ago.?

One of the most gratifying things that I am able to do today is give back to the organization that has meant so much to my family and I. Whenever I’m asked to help the local chapter, whether it’s selling an auction sale to raise funds for different activities during the year, or helping with one of the leadership teams that are competing at the district, regional or state level, I always find the time to “give back” whenever I can.

The FFA has been a major part of who I am and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of such an impactful organization as the FFA.
