Investing in young individuals aspiring to enhance the future of agriculture is essential in sustaining the industry’s success. GreenStone is supporting students through scholarships benefitting graduating high school seniors.
As part of GreenStone Farm Credit Services’ scholarship program, the cooperative recently selected 22 students to receive either a $2,000 or $1,000 award to assist with education costs. Since 2010, GreenStone has presented more than $175,000 in undergraduate college scholarships to students planning to make a positive impact on the agricultural industry.
The 2018 scholarship awardees are: Alayna Ackley (Mears, MI), Jared Baudhuin (Brussels, WI), Jessica Childs (Davison, MI), Joel Doepker (Three Oaks, MI), Alexis Gale (Mears, MI), Jennifer Gibbs (Almont, MI), Rhiannon Grenier (Green Bay, WI), Caitlin Henne (Eaton Rapids, MI), Taylor Koltz (Greenleaf, WI), Emily Kropf (Lowell, MI), Kelsey Maurer (Newton, WI), Megan Norris (Hesperia, MI), Grace Platte (Portland, MI), Laken Polega (Unionville, MI), Bennett Rabach (Sturgeon Bay, WI), Kelly Ratajczak (Munger, MI), Shayna Schmidt (Standish, MI), Maxwell TeBos (Allendale, MI), Rachael Valeria (Pulaski, WI), Derek Vander Hoff (Hillsdale, MI), Kimberly Van Donsel (Luxemburg, WI) and Colin Wussow (Cecil, WI).
To be eligible, applicants must reside within GreenStone’s territory, including Michigan and northeast Wisconsin, be a full-time high school graduating senior, have at least a 3.0 grade point average, and plan to study an agriculture-related field. In addition, selected students demonstrate participation and leadership in school, community and agricultural activities.
Applications for 2019 scholarships will be available on the GreenStone website early in the year.
