Joseph Murray
In my role at GreenStone, I do not feel like just a number. (I am sure there is some sort of accounting joke to be made about that, but it is true). The hospitality I have experienced here is impressive. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay receiving a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and I am now working toward a second degree in accounting. This summer I am the accounting intern in GreenStone’s Little Chute branch. As you can see, numbers are a big part of my life. This summer I wanted to get a feel for what an accountant’s job is like. This is my first job working on an accounting team, and it really opened my eyes to the ins and outs and daily work life of an accountant.
When researching GreenStone during the application and interview process, I read only good things about the company culture and employees here. I was happy to find out these were not just reviews on the internet posted by the company itself; they were completely accurate. I owe everything I have learned to my coworkers in Little Chute. Without their willingness to teach me and help me grow, my summer would have been very different.
One of my favorite parts about my summer at GreenStone was the different opportunities to travel. It was new and exciting to be able to attend events for work that were often fun and beneficial to my professional growth, whether in-state or out-of-state. I have never had these opportunities before in a previous job, so I appreciate how GreenStone invests in interns.
Experiencing the agricultural industry was new to me. I appreciate the level of expertise I am surrounded by every day. It helped me get accustomed to my role more quickly, while opening my eyes to the longevity of agriculture. As long as people need to eat, this industry will survive.
I am excited to have gained such quality experience in accounting. I will be using my new experience to help me with my future endeavors.
