The AgriBank District Farm Credit Council (ADFCC) presented its 2019 Friend of Farm Credit Award to U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan.
Stabenow, ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, received the award for her important work on behalf of rural communities, agriculture and the Farm Credit System. In the 2018 Farm Bill, she championed improving access to capital for farms of all sizes, including new opportunities for urban farmers, new and beginning producers, and farmer veterans. ADFCC members are in Washington to meet with members of Congress about issues important to farmers and ranchers in AgriBank's Midwestern District.
“Access to credit is essential for farmers to start and sustain their businesses,” Stabenow said. “I’m honored to receive this award from such strong leaders, who work hard to grow our agricultural economy.”

The AgriBank District Farm Credit Council represents Farm Credit farmers and ranchers in a 15-state area from Wyoming to Ohio and Minnesota to Arkansas. About half the nation's cropland is located within the AgriBank District.
