GreenStone takes great pride in caring for our community, and one of our own employees has exemplified just this for almost 15 years. Amanda VanRaemdonck, a customer service representative in the Corunna branch, has accepted numerous foster kittens into her home for the Humane Society of Genesee County since 2007.
From pregnant cats, mother cats with kittens of their own, orphan cats, or even cats who are semi-feral and need to become more socialized – Amanda does it all! She got the idea to start fostering cats when she had a little more time on her hands and wanted to volunteer in her community in some way. She then decided that since she loves animals, she would volunteer for the animal shelter nearby by helping with their fostering program.
Amanda has been an advocate for animals for 15 years. To date, she has fostered 436 animals, and two were even puppies! Bringing these kittens to a new home and allowing them to feel comfortable is what brings Amanda the most joy.
“I love watching the kittens grow from blind, deaf, helpless creatures into playful, crazy, little beasts,” said Amanda.
