Travis Jones receiving Honorary State FFA Degree

As more than a thousand Michigan FFA members, families and alumni filled the seats of the Wharton Center at Michigan State University for the opening session of the Michigan State FFA Convention, our very own GreenStone CEO was awarded the Honorary State FFA Degree. The Honorary State FFA Degree is awarded to farmers, school superintendents, principals, board of education members, chapter advisors, teachers, businesspeople, and others who are helping to advance agricultural education and the FFA and who have rendered outstanding service.

GreenStone CEO Travis Jones was nominated for this degree due to his selfless service and friendship to the Michigan FFA and dedication to the future of agriculture. As an industry representative on the Michigan FFA Association Board of Directors, Travis continues to be impressed by FFA members and inspired by their abilities.

Travis has served on the board since 2018 and since then, “I’ve gotten to spend lots of time with FFA State Officers, and they are the crème of the crop. I’ve told different groups that I wish GreenStone could hire every single one of them,” said Travis.

Travis explained, “Almost all FFA participants are excellent communicators and have learned important skills such as time management, prioritization, and work ethic. They are prepared for professional careers no matter what career it may be.”

After receiving the award, Travis expressed “I’m very honored to receive this degree and be part of the state board for FFA. I think it’s a great organization, so I’m very proud to be connected with them, and receiving the honorary degree is very special to me.”

GreenStone continues to promote the future of agriculture through support of organizations like the FFA. To learn more about our dedication to FFA and young, beginning, small farmers visit Open Fields Blog | GreenStone FCS.
