Intern Regional Bus Tour
8/12/2023

Recently, GreenStone’s group of summer interns embarked on an exciting and informative Regional Bus Tour, visiting Michigan Turkey Produces and Andy Mast Greenhouses.

Their day started at the corporate office, where they eagerly boarded the bus to head to Michigan Turkey Produces, a grower owned co-op founded in 1998 by 15 Michigan growers. Here they learned about poultry processing and had a delicious lunch featuring some of their products

Later, the interns headed to Andy Mast Greenhouses, a fourth-generation family business that dates back to the early 1900’s in the Netherlands. They offer a diverse range of products, including bulbs, spring plants, mums, poinsettias, and more, distributed to resellers and retail outlets throughout the United States. During the tour at Andy Mast Greenhouses, the interns had the opportunity to ask questions and engage with co-owner Dave Mast, which proved to be a valuable learning experience.

Credit Intern Dakota Spink shared her excitement about the event, saying, My favorite part of the day was being able to see how each producer markets their products and what products can be found locally.

She also appreciated the benefit the tour provided to her internship, allowing her a put a picture to the loans and see how customers utilize all the different services GreenStone provides. This newfound understanding and enthusiasm will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on Dakota’s, and her fellow intern’s, professional journeys.

This impactful and informative tour fostered a deeper appreciation for the industry and the vital role GreenStone plays in supporting producers. Through the lens of Michigan Turkey Producers and Andy Mast Greenhouses, the interns have gained a greater understanding and respect for the dedication and commitment that goes into cultivating the products that grace our tables and brighten our lives.
