GreenStone’s promise to support rural communities and agriculture goes far beyond being a dependable financial institution. Fueled by a goal of providing resources to show appreciation of our members and their dedication to agriculture, GreenStone proudly hosts a one-of-a-kind Ladies’ Day Out event each year in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Ladies’ Day Out celebrates women in agriculture, offering them the opportunity to connect with one another and a chance for these dedicated individuals to take a day for themselves.
“Women have been advocating for and operating behind the scenes on family farms and agricultural businesses all over the world, forever,” GreenStone’s regional operations coordinator, Barb Blahnik says. “GreenStone created this event to honor these women for all they do; helping run the farm, keeping the bills paid, caring for their families, supporting their partners though the challenging times and sharing unselfishly in the good times.”
Earlier this year, GreenStone hosted the 24th annual Ladies’ Day Out event at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center to celebrate the hardworking women in agriculture and provide a fun-filled, relaxing day of entertainment. GreenStone employees, Barb Blahnik, Justine Mancheski, Teresa Van Cuick and Loryn Wiese, work together on the Ladies’ Day Out committee to plan, organize and coordinate the free event. Over 400 women attended this year and enjoyed a hot breakfast, laughter with friends, a hysterical performance by “Let Me Be Frank” Productions and a day just for them to unwind.
“Like all the years before, the room echoed with laughter, chatter and excitement about having this time to celebrate,” Barb says. “What the women enjoy most is the anticipation and realization of a time to just relax and laugh ‘or cry’ among a united group of women who understand and can relate to the passion they all hold near and dear to their hearts – agriculture.”
